This past weekend was another weekend for the books! We flew into Sydney International Airport on Thursday night and the fun began from there!

Yesterday Michael and I woke up bright and early to go skydiving. When we arrived at the office in Coolangatta we were briefed on how to jump and then got suited up. We then took a short shuttle to the Gold Coast Airport where we jumped on a tiny little plane. As we were taking off I couldn't even speak; all I could think about was how my stomach felt. Upon reaching an altitude of 12,000 feet it was time to jump. My instructor said we would jump after counting down from three but then pushed me out of the plane immediately. For about 40 seconds we were in free fall and then we pulled the parachute and slowly fell onto the beach.
Heres a list of the dates for my future trips so everyone can keep up to date!
This past weekend our group took the train into Brisbane to celebrate Oktoberfest. Without any exaggeration this was one of the best weekends I’ve ever had. Upon arrival on Friday we checked into our first hostel and then explored the South Bank Parklands. We enjoyed some live music in the park over some wine, walked through the local museum, went on the giant ferris wheel and had a great Italian dinner.
Yesterday after class Caroline, Seb and I took the local bus all the way to Coolangatta Beach. We took a few hours to explore the incredible hill side and the stunning views of the rock pools and migrating whales. As we were looking out at the ocean a mama and baby whale put on a show for us. They kept jumping and flipping their tales for about 10 minutes. It was truly incredible. At that moment it finally hit me that Im in Australia.
This past weekend my friends and I took a trip to Nimbin (the marijuana capital of Australia) and Byron Bay in New South Wales. As we waited to depart on Friday morning I had no idea what to expect; after waiting a little a double decker bus pulled up playing funky music. As the driver greeted us I knew it was going to be an amazing weekend.
This past weekend we attended an AFL (Australian Football League) game and it was incredible. Football, or Footie as the Aussies say, is a cross between American football and soccer. Our hall mates taught me the rules of the game so I could understand what was going on. I absolutely loved the energy in the stadium! Bond won (of course). After finally settling in here at Bond my group of friends decided it was time to go on some adventures! During the first week here we did EVERYTHING possible. Our first major adventure was to Broad Beach. We spent hours on the beautiful sand hanging out and having a great time. Next we explored Surfers paradise and all of the bars/clubs/restaurants it had to offer. Finally we visited Burleigh Heads to see the jaw dropping views of the ocean and Australian mountains. After seeing the incredible landscape here I never want to go back to the states.Orientation week was by far one of the best weeks I've had in a while. It was so nice to meet people from all over the world (literally) and create a solid friend group.
After 27 long hours of flying I finally arrived in Gold Coast, Queensland! Unfortunately the trip was hell thanks to a canceled flight and some other complications but nonetheless we finally arrived! I can't wait to start my 4 month adventure!
